Fall River Mills Fail Faces Receivership Hearing
Fall River Massachusetts January 2 counsel for stock holders filed for a receiver for the Davis Cotton Mills before Judge Fox in Bristol County Superior Court. The petition cites a $500000 mortgage by Industrial Trust Company of Providence and assets of about $587836 in quick assets versus $100342 liabilities. Mills operated after fall reopening to break a strike, but stockholders’ capital fund shortfall and losses on raw cotton, plus tied up funds from unsellable goods, are blamed. Petitioners plan a plan of reorganization to reduce capital and bring in new capital if the plan gains court approval.
