Notable Washington Dinners For Austro Hungarian Ambassador Era

A long evening of formal dinners and box parties in Washington featured many dignitaries and diplomats. Chief Justice Fuller hosted guests including the Austro Hungarian ambassador and Baroness Hengelmulter while various justices, senators, and ministers mingled with the French Brazilian Portuguese and Swedish missions at multiple venues. A midwinter convocation at George Washington University and a Norfolk-like social calendar highlighted by marriages and teas completed the schedule.

Inaugural gown and fashion notes for Mrs Taft

Fashion's fads and fancies concern Mrs William Howard Taft as she selects her inaugural ball gown. A famed shopper, she reportedly will wear heavy white satin with silver insets and coral pink trimming, plus a court train. The piece notes her influence on White House decor and parallels with European royal fashion trends.
