Boy's Salute to the American Flag Introduces Custom in City Schools

In inaugural week preparations, reviewing stands for the Capitol ceremony will seat about 47,000, with 13,000 window accommodations and a total potential cost near 200000 dollars. A 10000-seat large stand at the Capitol is built for Congress and guests, using a 35000 dollar appropriation. 15000 flags will be used as decorations and become permanent property of the inaugural committee. Automobiles are urged to fly flags, with brackets installed on street lamps for 1000 dollars. John Deming, a nine year old pupil, led a military salute at his Wilson Normal School, signaling a new custom to be adopted in all city public schools. He is son of painter Eewin Willard Deming, living at 2831 Thirteenth Street.
