Census Bureau Supplementary Analysis on Education and Literacy
Readable statistics cover illiteracy, teachers, occupations, children, families, migration, sex proportions, and the Negro farmer. The volume notes that numerically teachers are the largest professional class, with the U.S. having more teachers than lawyers or doctors. It reports higher male share in the South and lower in the North and West, rising female teachers nationwide, and a median age increase. Illiteracy declines, with literacy higher among native white children than those with foreign-born parents, tied to urban concentration of foreigners.

Estate Claims 3674 75 on Brightwood Reservoir Balance
Chief Justice Clabaugh ruled against Charles M. Treat to show cause by March 10 why the United States sinking fund should not pay $3,674.75 to the estate of Mrs. Margaret Harrison. John J. Hamilton and Lawrence Hufty filed an injunction against Regan & Co. and Treat to prevent delivery to contractors. The suit cites that Harrison advanced about 20,000 during construction and that an assignment to Harrison passed to the sinking fund custodian.

Antitoxin in Milk Prompts Scientific Debate
Berlin reports Prof Emil von Behring has developed an antitoxin for tuberculosis that can be injected into cows, making milk protective for drinkers. St Louis physicians largely endorse, though some doubt an absolute tuberculosis specific. Dr Wm Porter praises Behring while noting possible overstatement. He favors prevention over cure and suggests milk with the germ may confer some immunity if given early and in sufficient quantity. Boston population and wealth figures indicate Greater Boston as a major economic center.
