Wants Drake Ousted Letters to Commissioners
A letter from the Royal Benefit Society accuses Thomas E. Drake of intent to ruin the District of Columbia’s insurance department and seeks his removal. Drake replies that the society misstates actions and cites prior findings that the society violated law and failed to obtain a license. Representative Wachter launches a House resolution to investigate the District insurance department and Drake’s fitness and conduct.

Beall's Plan Rejected by Commissioners on Rock Creek
The District Commissioners disapproved Richard J. Beall Jr.'s Rock Creek arch project from L Street to Connecticut Avenue as bill 7169. They favor either the conduit plan approved in Senate bill 3883 or open valley treatment proposed by the park commission, and they do not recommend favorable consideration of Beall's scheme. The report, signed by Acting President West and prepared by Col. Biddle, notes a $77,000 budget and a $1,200 annual rent for creek waters, plus a 99 year lease to Beall for brickwork and construction plans.
