Policeman George T Hilton, 32, of the Fourth precinct, was shot by an unidentified Black assailant near Four and a Half Street and Maryland Avenue southwest around 11 39 last night. Hilton, not seriously injured, was taken to Emergency Hospital as officers pursued the suspect who allegedly resisted arrest after demanding the officer leave the neighborhood. The incident unfolded as Hilton confronted loiterers who insulted women in the area.
A Senate subcommittee report finds the Tennessee Coal and Iron absorption by United States Steel unauthorized and aimed at monopoly. It states Roosevelt overstepped and directed the Attorney General to refrain from enforcing antitrust statutes. Carroll Davidson Wright, president of Clark College Worcester, dies at home after weeks of illness. Special to The Washington Post New York Feb 20 Henry Seligman banking house member with New York London Paris died suddenly at his Frankfort home. Born in Bayersdorf Germany he moved to the United States as a youth and ran a California dry goods business. He founded the San Francisco branch of his family’s banking houses and later formed Seligman & Stettheimer in Frankfort helping place large bond issues in Germany during the war. Funeral set for Monday.
Chicago February 20 Wheat prices surged to a fresh high as the May option hit 1.1614 dollars then slumped to 1.1478 dollars amid heavy selling by brokers. Traders say Patten attempted to unload part of his wheat line, triggering volatility before bulls provided support and a renewed rally to 1.1514 dollars.
Crawfordsville Ind Feb last night police arrested Charles and Fern Hills cousins after they and Claude Clements planned to rob the late Gen Lew Wallace’s residence of valued curios learned from a diagram found on one Hills boy. The police surrounded the house after they entered and captured a burglar. The horse is temporarily unoccupied and Clements helped expose the plot.

Three hundred to five passengers and crew were saved on the Hamburg South American line mail boat built in 1886.
