Inquiry plans Baker placed on committee in Maryland Senate
In Annapolis on February 16 the Maryland Senate passed a compromise resolution to investigate the Washington branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, correcting a clerical error. Baker replaced France on the committee, with meetings and preparation to involve the Interstate Commerce Commission for a thorough short time probe. Also discussed were actions to stop coal-rate discrimination by Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad and to compel B and O to waive tax exemption. A mileage bill offering a flat seven cent rate without mileage-book guarantees was favorably reported by the House Railroads and Canals Committee.
