About 200 automobile owners gathered to oppose House Bill 12330 restricting speeds in the District and imposing imprisonment for a second offense. W S Duvall and R B Caverly urged a substitute measure favoring federal standards and warned the Sims bill would end automobiling in the city. Captain Caverly argued the bill would devastate motor travel while Chairman Macfarland defended Mr Sims.
