Social Gossip: Divorce Splits New York Society Romance
New York society watches a marriage end in an interlocutory divorce decree for Janette Logan Bayles from Howard Bayles. The affair, revealed in part from her bed, centers on an alleged misstep with a non-society woman. Bayles comes from an old family. Janette Logan is heir to a $2,000,000 estate and has connections to prominent figures. The wedding, once celebrated at the Brick Presbyterian Church, featured a grand reception at the National Art Club. Plans for the future remain undisclosed amid social intrigue and international connections, including ties to Sir Ernest Cassel and the British aristocracy.

Health Department Uses Post Cards for Education
The District Health Department will use postal cards formerly reserved for addresses to convey messages. Acknowledgment cards warn that every birth must be reported and urge compliance with the birth registration law. Additional cards promote clean food from clean markets and dairies, noting printing costs are minor and fines may follow noncompliance. The department annually sends six to seven thousand such acknowledgments.
