Court Ring Lost in 1616 Found Near Pirate Isles

New Haven Conn Feb 10 An oddly shaped gold ring thought to be royal in origin and matching a piece said to have vanished from the English court in 1610 was found by Charles Burns a firefighter in the sand near the Thimble Islands in Long Island Sound. The ring of four joined bands was recovered while Burns was unclamping his gear. Historians note the design resembles a ring once worn by Lady Catherine Grey and tied to her marriage with the Earl of Hertford and Queen Elizabeth’s later displeasure with that match.
