Storage yard plan stalls in Congress panels debate traffic shifts
District committees in Congress weighed a storage yard for Southwest Washington in exchange for a Virginia avenue bridge. Opponents urged preserving grade crossings while rail lines and bus routes faced changes. A cross-town railway proposal drew no action as hearings continued.

Commissioners Stand On Washington and Gettysburg Railway Extension
Washington and Georgetown County Commissioners refuse to extend congressional time for the Washington and Gettysburg Railway Company of Maryland to extend into the District unless a bond is posted to guarantee construction. The measure tracks a planned route through Brookland and surrounding streets, with prior extensions already granted and no track laid. The commission notes past extensions and urges a binding guarantee to ensure completion within the new limit.
