WANTS RULES ALTERED PLAN TO INCREASE BATTING
American League rules committee leaders Clark Griffith and T Noyes discuss proposed changes to foul strike and four strike rules to boost batting. Griffith urges exempting certain long foul drives from strikes, arguing it would aid free hitters and ease umpire disputes while not fully discarding the foul strike rule. Connie Mack cautions against abolishing the four strike rule, but all agree some modification may be possible with joint League scrutiny.
