Inquiry Halts Blair See Led Opposition

Baltimore and Cme Railroad affairs dominated the Maryland General Assembly as Republican leaders push a legislative inquiry. In the house a fifth resolution was introduced by Mr. Penton. in the senate debate over Senator Germans' resolution continued. Both houses delayed action, with recommittal voting 14 to 11. The session also tackled tobacco law reforms, railroad smoke limits, electric company charters, and nominations for Baltimore election supervisors. The Potomac fish and oyster protection committee planned to travel to Richmond with President Seth.

Nine Die In Curtis Bay Fire In Maryland

A small frame house near Curtis Bay in Anne Arundel County burned, killing nine colored residents and leaving one survivor, Ella Webster. She escaped by jumping from a second story window and later aided neighbors in the alarm. The coroner’s inquest is scheduled for tomorrow. Webster is held as a witness.

Carnegie funds gift to Randolph-Macon Woman's College

Lynchburg Va Feb 6 Randolph Macon Woman's College received notice from Andrew Carnegie pledging 20000 for a science hall. The gift requires a similar amount from individuals and caps the hall cost at 20060. The raised funds will finance a new dormitory to house 100 more students.

Raid on Annapolis Gambling Den Breaks Legislature Pattern

Sheriff Joshua Linthicum and four deputies raided a State House Circle house near Annapolis, discovering a roulette game presided over by a Baltimore gambler with long winters in the city. Woman as accomplice in Cedar Grove murder

Charleston February 6 Mrs Harvey Elswick wife of the miner who shot and killed Jeff Montague in Montague’s Cedar Grove business place last Saturday night is jailed in Kanawha County charged with complicity. The feud arose from Montague’s attentions to Elswick’s wife. Elswick had a slight wound from the shooting, revealed only after he was jailed.
