Special Washington Post report from Cincinnati says Walter Brookins famed aviator and Wright brothers team member is sued for divorce by his wife Miriam Brookins for desertion. She seeks court restraint on paying prizes or cash to Brookins until the case ends. They wed in 1967 and separated after one year. Brookins, 23, was a teammate of Ralph Johnstone killed at Denver.
Benjamin D. Greene and John F. Gaynor, convicted of defrauding the government in Savannah harbor work with Capt. Oberon M. Carter, will be released within a month after serving four years with deductions for good behavior. A $575.47 fine delays their discharge until the pauper’s oath is filed with the United States clerk in Atlanta. Greene, long ill, is reported to have regained health.
Milwaukee reports a Hoboes Union convention backing a second Coxey march to Washington starting May 1. Leader James Eades Howe says thousands will form for the summer convention, moving from Missouri along the Cumberland road and gathering delegates along the way toward the capital.
Sani Ed Dow ish Persian minister of finance was shot dead in Teheran as two Armenian assassins struck while he returned from parliament. Two policemen also fell. Dowleh, a leading reformer and former president of Persia’s first parliament, was 48. The attack followed parliamentary quarrels over American advisers.
Chicago obituary notes the death of John W. Blaisdell at his home after a long illness following a paralytic stroke. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he debuted at the Boston Museum at 17 and rose to leading man at the old Hooley Theater stock company. He toured with Maggie Mitchell in Fanchon the Cricket and traveled with John Dillon.
Wireless dispatch from Commander Cooper of the cruiser Marietta reports three yellow fever cases among sailors but says they are doing well and no new cases have appeared since Monday.
