Inquiry in Killing Family Will Clear Name
Coroner verdict exonerating Afien D. Deason of blame in the shooting of George J. Shipley is challenged by Shipley relatives. Mrs R M McDade, sister, hires lawyers to seek grand jury action, arguing the public misperception harms the family and that further investigation is needed. Deason defends action as protecting his family, saying he feared for safety and did not realize Shipley was dead. Attorney Hallam supports reopening inquiry to the grand jury if warranted.
