Value of imports lower drives trade decline

A Commerce Department analysis shows imports valued at 97,000,000 and exports at 167,002,000 fell, due mainly to lower prices rather than reduced quantities. The report notes price drops fully explain much of the drop, with certain goods affected. meanwhile Swift & Company reports Washington fresh beef sales averaging 69.0 per hundredweight for the week ending January 3.
