Duke Della Salle Marriage Drama Captivates Rome and Paris
In 1905 the Duke Della Salle loved Marika Kerasos, a poor Greek girl, and sought marriage despite his father’s opposition. An abduction to Vienna, a lunacy ruling, and a family recovery led to a Greek Roman ceremony. The duke later vanished in Paris while negotiating with his father's agent. Marika, with her baby, appeals to the Vatican for annulment and justice.

Emerson lecture praised as a great moral leader
Edward Howard Griggs in the fourth lecture of his Great Moral Leaders series at the Church of the Covenant described Ralph Waldo Emerson as a powerful awakener of minds despite lacking deep feeling. He traced Emerson from birth in Boston to his ministry, resignation, and the era’s controversy, noting the Tanarendertal movement and suggesting Emerson’s ideas endure in both directions. The next talk on Tolstoy is set for February 8.
