Automatic Phone Switches on Display at National Museum

Four electric switches for automatic telephones were installed yesterday at the National Museum to let visitors turn currents on and off and operate the telephone. Invented by an undertaker, the switches were added to the exhibit by Carl W. Mitman curator of engineering. They are mounted on a mahogany switchboard and were shipped from Chicago by truck. The instruments are so delicate that even a small jar can displace them, and visitors will be asked to touch the switches carefully.
