Canton bank teller arrested for embezzlement confessing excess spending

William H. White paying teller at Canton National Bank was arrested at his Halethorpe home on embezzlement charges. Authorities say he confessed to misappropriating about mus over several years, largely from the savings department, claiming the money funded his home. He had been with the bank fourteen years and was secured to Fidelity and Deposit for 9100. The arrest followed discrepancies found by a bank examiner during the recent semi annual examination.

Engineer Roasts Self to Save Passengers in Rail Crash

On the Seaboard Air Line northbound from Atlanta to Richmond, a crash near Peachland 19 miles east of Monroe killed Engineer J. E. Maxwell of Raleigh.
