No Guns for Big Army Sperry Fleet in Red Sea

An inquiry ordered by President Roosevelt reveals a dangerous lack of modern rifles and artillery to arm any large force. Only about 260,000 Springfield rifles exist, with roughly 350,000 Krags available, far short of a 250,000 man army. The report cites limited munitions, delayed production, and decades-old weaponry as key weaknesses.
