Drop Appeal From Award In City Property Condemnation
The decision by Orrin G. Stuptes, Frances Clark, and Grand Opera House Company to drop the appeal of a district court award for property five blocks south of Pennsylvania Avenue between Fourth and Fifteenth Streets removes the obstacle to the project. Thirty six other owners contested the awards, but most appeals were not pursued after presidential approval, clearing the way for Treasury remuneration and eventual demolition work. Possession is expected around March 2 after title reports by special counsel Birney, Beach & Caldwell.
