Christmas gifts nabbed from Ohio sailors by customs
Treasure seized aboard the ship Ohio on return from the Philippines halted sailors from giving Christmas presents to wives and sweethearts. Officers arranged a fund, but customs officials searched the vessel, confiscating and auditing items stored as holiday gifts. After the scan, sailors salvaged enough money to buy a few keepsakes, with the incident remembered as a navy Christmas ordeal.
