Witness testifies to marriage contract with Lucky Baldwin
In Los Angeles on December 21, Mrs. Lilian A Turnbull faced a three hour cross examination in a will contest seeking a 2.5 million share of the Lucky Baldwin estate. She admitted a marriage contract existed but said only she and Baldwin saw it, and Baldwin introduced her as Mrs Baldwin to only five people, including two white men and three servants. Hotel registers show she used the name Lillian Ashley after the alleged marriage. She said she did not know she was Baldwin's wife until months later and denied asking about Mrs Lillian Bennett Baldwin's visits to Baldwin's Santa Anita ranch.
