Lynching of Davis at Annapolis jail shocks city
A mob attacked the Annapolis jail on Calvert Street, forced open the door, seized Davis held on a rape charge, and hanged and shot him near the Brick Yard Toll. Deputies Smallwood and Crouse tried to stop the mob but could not prevent the lynching. Coroner’s verdict by the jury found Davis died at the hands of the mob. no identifications of the attackers were made.

William G Russell, sought on a charge of unlawfully obtaining 800 dollars from Mrs Maggie E Buckley, was arrested yesterday in New York. Detective Hartigan will bring him back to answer the charges. The case began when Russell met Mrs Buckley at the track and convinced her to lend money with a promise of returning 5000 dollars by October 1.

Cab strike two women as driver is arrested
Miss Florence Collinsworth and Miss Layton, residents of 757 Sixth Street Southwest, were struck near Seventh Street and Pennsylvania Avenue by a cab driven by Elias Groff of 217 EB Street Southeast. They suffered facial and bodily injuries and were returned home in the First Precinct patrol wagon. Groff was arrested on assault charges after the 10 PM incident, which occurred as the women attempted to cross the street.
