Mrs Richard Golden, wife of a Long Island Railroad employee, used a large stick to thwart three yeggs robbing Thompsons Bros store in Oyster Bay. Her husband, knocked down, fired at one assailant as he tried to flee, a bullet struck the man. One burglar was shot, another unconscious, the third escaped. all three were later detained.
A mysterious young woman registered at Queen Anne cottage in Virginia Beach under the name Marguerite Marshall. She attempted suicide twice by laudanum and gun, and was a New York newspaper writer, a college graduate, employed by a New York paper until about two weeks ago.

Special to The Washington Post Richmond Va Dec 20 John Armstrong Chaloner of Cobham Albemarle County tonight offered a reward of 1000 dollars for the arrest of the man who shot at him from ambush on Bernard Horne property on Thanksgiving day He will pay the reward to the men who fired the shot if they will tell who hired them The claim is complicated by Virginia law which makes shooting from ambush a misdemeanor.
Martin Sterling, a Baltimore broker, in a delirious bout during a typhoid scare, leaves bed to fire at his wife and sister in the dining room. Miss Mary Brown, a trained nurse, wrests the revolver, then throws it through a dining room window to prevent further harm. Brown is wounded in the breast. Sterling is captured and treated, with her condition described as critical but hopeful.
