Trees at Tidal Basin Not to Be Removed

Lieut. Col. C. O. Sherrill in charge of public buildings and grounds said the bathing beach for colored persons on the northwest side of the Tidal Basin will not require removing the Japanese cherry trees along the bank. He added that likely none will be removed and at most two or three. The declaration follows fears that beach construction would erase the trees. Construction, announced at about $75,000, will start soon though only water soundings have been completed.
