Parents oppose transfer of pupils to school annex

Baltimore reports parents protest moving 100 pupils from School No 64 Forest Park to an annex on the Webb estate behind Chelsea terrace and Gwynns Falls parkway. They call the annex an unsafe, unsanitary old house with mud paths, poor toilet facilities, and no proper protection for children. A fire at the Rosenthal home forced evacuations nearby as neighbors helped carry an elderly resident to safety. An intruder robbed Mrs Leona Cole at pistol point and another suspect, Garnett Hammer, 16, was arrested. Captain Zellera, longtime police leader, died, and a boy was struck by a car on Dalrymple Avenue, his injuries not serious.
