Inaugural Ball Location Battle at Capitol Dome Plan
A heated dispute over where President Roosevelts inaugural ball should be held shifts between the Pension Building and the Library of Congress. House supporters favor the Capitol turning rotunda and Statuary Hall into a grand ballroom with minimal disruption to Congress. Senate leaders resist Library use, preferring the Pension or creating a temporary setup.

Inaugural Committee Debates Hall Choice for Roosevelt Parade
The panel weighs Library building as fireproof option for inaugural events versus Pension building. It cites cost, safety, and accessibility, noting Library capacity and existing staff. Pension building favors decor, fire safety, and historic use, with costs and police provisions outlined. Generals Harries and Wilson discuss troop invites and quartering, aiming for broad State participation while avoiding overcrowding.
Inaugural Committee Adopts No Free Entertainment Policy
Reports from the general committee meeting at the New Willard reveal the decision not to provide free entertainment for inaugural visitors. The resolution urges keeping prices down and informs applicants for aid. Decorations from the World’s Fair, plaster works from the Louisiana Purchase Exposition will be used, with transport arranged to minimize costs. Treasurer Ailes notes 38,000 paid on the 400,000 inaugural fund.
