Cruisers for Asiatic Station to Join Squadron
The protected cruisers Galveston and Chattanooga have been chosen for service on the Asiatic station and will depart early next year. They are attached to the third division of the second squadron of the North Atlantic fleet under Rear Admiral Charles D. Sigsbee, with Brooklyn and Tacoma, and are ordered to sea. A conference will decide whether the squadron sails to the Mediterranean directly or via South America and Africa before reaching the Med.
