National Association tightens minor league contracts and asks fund disposition
The National Baseball Association discussed the $1,800,000 managed during the 1923 season and sought clarification on its disposition. A resolution bars minor league managers from bonuses or extra salaries for player sales. J Cal Ewing was elected to the board of arbitration, succeeding William McCarthy. Minor leaguers oppose future joint meetings with majors. Pierre Wertheimer, Harry Sinclair, and August Belmont are reported in talks on an international race, raising concerns Americans may target a New York track if Longchamp is unavailable. An attempt to secure a minister's ruling on the May 3 Longchamp date is planned.
