Christmas Appeal Approved and Loan Law Bill Urged
The Associated Charities board approved issuing the society's fourteen Christmas opportunities appeal and adopted a resolution urging Congress to pass the Senate bill amending the loan shark law. It would raise the rate from 1 percent to 2 percent a month as originally requested. The resolution notes no relief has been available since no loans have been made under the current law for four years.

Still Juror Short For Trial Of Wan
In Wan murder case little progress was made toward selecting a jury as the new panel exhausted before noon. Justice Gould ordered a call for fifty more talesmen and the court adjourned to morning. Of 176 examined, only seven faced challenges for cause. Chambers and May were peremptorily challenged by the government, Pollock and Edelin by the defense. The government also challenged Enders. O Shea depleted old members. ten of fifty talesmen were released for scruples about the death penalty or other disqualifiers. Poole sought exemption as a government depository president of the Federal National Bank.
