Committees reshaped as Republicans added to each panel
The House announced new committee leadership with one Republican added to each major committee. Speaker and Minority Leader Williams ensured no Democratic membership was cut, promoting Hearst to ranking Democrat on Labor and granting him a second assignment on Irrigation of Public Lands. Additional shifts placed Tawney as Appropriations chair and Bartholdt out of Levees and Improvements toward other posts, with several other party switches noted across Ways and Means, Foreign Affairs, and Territories.
