WRECK LAID TO TRAIN CREW

Philadelphia December 10. The Philadelphia and Reading Railway Company after completing its investigation of the Bryn Athyn wreck last Monday in which 25 lives were lost issued a statement. It says the accident was caused by the failure of the crew of No. 151 to obey the train order at Bryn Athyn requiring the train to sit and wait until No. 156 had passed. The crew are described as experienced with good service records. The movement of No. 151 from the aiding at Bryn Athyn in violation of the train order cannot be explained.

Picketing Protests as Prince of Wales Visits Calcutta

Calcutta reports a large scale protest campaign against the Prince of Wales visit with 360 arrests in a day and heavy police actions. Officers raided the Caliphate office and seized documents while weapons and swords were found in a raid. Troops deployed in the north as women withdraw from demonstrations.

Slaughter's Body Found in Saline County Woods

Tom Slaughter notorious outlaw was found dead in the Saline county woods north of Benton after being shot by J C Howard during a so called frame up. Howard and two others fled the penitentiary with Slaughter and five convicts earlier. A large Benton crowd viewed the body as investigations confirmed fatal bullet wounds to head and body.

Masked men storm Breathitt jail in Jackson Kentucky

State troops were sent by Gov Morrow to Jackson after seven to eight masked men tried to free four prisoners. In the ensuing gunfire Albert Roberts 21 nephew of Jailor A A Allen died from chest wounds. Deputy jailer Mrs Oscar Allen and Miss Maggie Allen were wounded and likely fatally. The band sought keys, fired on the jailer, then fled without further assault. Nobles had been moved to Winchester for safekeeping.
