Court of Appeals broadens half-holiday reach in Patents case
The District of Columbia Court of Appeals decided that Saturdays half holiday counts in legal timelines, applying to appeals from the Commissioner of Patents. The ruling, in Ocumpaugh v Norton and Gallagher v Fiien, allows time calculations to include half-holiday days, extending the period for appeals and potentially affecting multiple cases.

President weighs plea to restore Mrs Dodge diamonds
President Roosevelt is considering remitting the forfeiture and restoring to Mrs Phyllis Dodge diamonds valued about 40000 seized by New York customs. Courts upheld the seizure, calls were made to sell the jewels, and Dodge lawyers appealed to the President who met with Secretary Shaw and Dodge representatives to seek more information before ruling. Legal officers oppose restoring the jewels and favor enforcing the court mandate.
