Germans Plan Transatlantic Air Voyage With Staaken Plane
London reports German plans for transatlantic flight by a Staaken built aircraft and a Zeppelin at Friedrichshafen. The Staaken plant, active in war raids on London and Paris, now converts war planes to civilian use and builds aluminum mail planes. Zeppelin aims for a 100 passenger craft with nine engines and eight propellers, first flight expected July if conditions clear. A 1917 Zeppelin misison from Bulgaria to East Africa was ordered back after news of von Letow-Vorbeck’s surrender.
