Sold Himself to Priest in Will Claim Case
A West Court suit alleges Joseph E Wildman was promised $6 000 by Rev Father John M Jones in exchange for work. Wildman, who began working for Jones in 1892 at 18, says he was to receive the money if he devoted his time. Jones died in 1902 without naming Wildman in the will. The case hinges on contract proof and existence of an earlier will. Wildman cannot testify about priestly conversations though his mother attended some.
