Democratic Call for Bank Depositor Guaranty Sparks Kansas Debate

William Jennings Bryan argues for a guaranteed bank deposits system as a remedy to bank failures and depositor losses, contrasting Democratic and Republican platforms, Oklahoma’s success, and Kansas Republican positions while urging a national reform through a guaranteed deposit fund rather than a postal savings plan. Bryan criticizes Taft and highlights deposit protection as a priority for depositors over stockholders. He notes Oklahoma’s experience and the potential for nationwide adoption with Democratic leadership.
