Taft Not the Heir He Speaks at Salem Illinois
In Salem Illinois Sherman is accused of keeping people from ruling while Taft loses the Virginia speech critique as a hopeful sign for Roosevelt Republican votes. He reiterates that the American people do not rule and says the government is not responsive, urging a national change. Bryan criticizes Taft and Sherman, argues reforms return to him, and casts the election as a verdict on who truly represents the people.
