Wage talks continue over Washington Railway wage rise
The Washington Railway and Electric Company refused wage demands from two unions and will meet with Division 876 of the Amalgamated Association and the Brotherhood of Electric Railway Employes to discuss higher pay eight hour day and employment reforms. Officials say fare increases cannot yet cover the proposed rise though payroll costs already run high. unions argue living costs warrant more pay and point to higher city wages elsewhere.
