Snow Spots Observed on Mars Probably Surface Deposits
Immovable spots seen on Mars from the Lowell Observatory over two nights may be snow or surface deposits. The features cover about 10 000 square miles in the bright desert-like regions 16 degrees north and 135 degrees longitude. They remained fixed between August 20 and 21, suggesting a surface phenomenon rather than drifting clouds.
