Rail executives press Wilson on arbitration eight hour day
Eight presidents of major railways, drafting a reply to President Wilson on averting a nationwide strike, meet in Washington. They seek arbitration for the eight hour day and other issues, while some executives urge delaying action and others fight any plan forcing the change without arbitration. Public opinion and commercial groups favor arbitration. The White House conference seeks Wilson's explicit views on deadlines and cost implications.
