Unique Double Wedding in Cropsey Couples in City
A private double wedding was held last night at 1975 F street northeast with Rev. Nelson H. Miller officiating. Thomas H. Bodine and Mary Olivia Redden wed, along with Charles F. Bodine and Susan Frances Redden, all of Cropsey Maryland, in a ceremony at Hermon’s Chapel nearby Cabin John. The brides are daughters of the late Thomas W. Redden, a former Cropley postmaster. The event, attended only by immediate family, followed by a supper where relatives and Rev. and Mrs. Miller offered congratulations. The couples, who came from country homes, planned to live in Washington where the grooms conduct business. Roses and cut flowers decorated the parlor and dining room. The Presbyterian service began with a private betrothal, with no best men or bridesmaids. The brides entered together with the grooms, and the couples secured marriage licenses earlier that day. A two-city honeymoon was planned in Washington and Cropley.
