Incendiary fire damages two Alexandria homes on South Alfred street

A two story frame house at 808 South Alfred street occupied by Richard Thompson and the adjacent rear property at 10 South Alfred street were damaged in a blaze. Police believe an incendiary set the fire around 1 am after Thompson claimed to have slept through it. A two gallon oil can found in the yard supports the theory. Thompson, a locally described colored resident, may face questioning as investigators seek to identify the arsonist. The Thompson home is owned by Mrs Jones of Washington. Meanwhile, local court actions include Charles Robinson, about 16, arraigned for robbery in Fairfax County. The bodies of William R Claxton and William L Wade are noted for funeral arrangements, and other local notices include Faith Duncan’s funeral and a chancery appointment involving William T Chantland.
