Gaither Heads Ticket Utilities plank is dropped
The Washington Post reports the Republican State convention nominates Gaither for governor with a strong ticket. Baker is named attorney general, Denard for clerk of the Court of Appeals, and McFarran to seek renomination. The platform abandons a utilities commission plank while endorsing a fair and uniform election law and improved oyster regulations. The convention, led by McGaither allied figures, emphasizes geographic balance and broad party support.
