Spy murder indictment shocks Spotsylvania county picnic

Udell Lewis, indicted in the 1917 murder near Snells in Spotsylvania county, fled court then resurfaced in Lustus where he is dead from gas fumes after a fall into a garage tank. The incident involved a group of youths, including W. O. Morris's son, who breathed gas for recreation.
