Refund for Builders Appropriation To Be Asked
Commissioner Macfarland urges Congress to provide a deficiency appropriation to reimburse Washington builders and contractors who applied for building permits before July 16 but were charged the old rate of 31 per permit after the new schedule took effect. At least four builders paid excess fees due to delays by the building inspector, including James L Parsons who filed July 9 and received the permit July 22 but paid 360, plus an extra 59 he had not anticipated. The board recommends reimbursement for the excess fees and notification that funds will be provided.
