No Favoritism Shown in District Engineering Hearings
A conference in the office of Commissioner Morrow examined charges of favoritism in district contracts. Charles Fernald resigned after admitting a $1,000 payment from a construction firm. officials criticized contractor Brennan for sweeping accusations. The review found little chance of further resignations and affirmed that contracts were drawn under personal supervision, with Fernald’s acceptance of $1,000 and a $300 loan cited as improper in context.
