Draw Circles in the Chart Prize Problem

The problem tasks players to place circles on a chart where each circle earns points equal to the section number it sits in. The goal is to maximize total points by strategic placement, considering increasing payments as the contest progresses and any stated privileges.

Third Puzzle Circle contest rewards star chart points

The third puzzle describes drawing circles on a seven section star chart. Each circle scores equal to its section number, with Section 1 worth one point and Section 7 center worth seven. Contestants maximize total points by placing many circles in high value sections and computing the sum. In ties, winners are those with the fewest circles overall.

Rules for Circles in The Charts

The circles must be as round as free hand drawing allows and not intersect or touch another circle or the star border. They may vary in size as long as none touch the heavy border or light internal lines, and the central white space remains clearly discernible in submitted charts.

Instructions for Star Chart Submissions and Rules

The notice explains disqualification for whitespace problems and circle overlaps in star charts. It mandates safe pen use, exact counts of circles and points, and prohibits changes after submission. Local contestants must submit by 9 pm Thursday May 2. distant entrants within eleven days of notification.

Payment option changes in contest dividend rules

Contestants who did not pay the full amount in preliminaries may pay later to adjust dividends. If multiple answers were submitted, the sum paid is divided by total solutions to determine the share subject to a dividend. The higher or full amount of 840 dollars may be reached by further payments, with envelopes marked Solution and Subscription Charts.
