In Bangor Maine April 20 Miss Etta Nelson of Pittsfield is named the champion rural free delivery mail carrier in the United States. She works a long day weekly in all seasons facing mud snow dust and gales, using a riding wagon in summer and a heavy sleigh in winter. A young single mother and active in clubs and Sunday school, she notes many Maine women could do the job if given the chance.
