Vote to Pay Off Officers Stirs National Guard Debate
Senate debates federal pay for guardsmen after Borah accuses officers of diverting funds from enlisted men. Reed and Pomerene defend the guards, Lodge defends the regular army, and amendments aim to raise pay and establish training districts while citing War Department records of misuse. Meantime a benefit for the Kalpolis Glee Club prompts a community gathering with the Kalli polis Grotto hosting.

Lincoln Extradition Plea Brief Filed in Lincoln Case
Counsel for the British consul general filed with the supreme court a brief demanding the extradition of Ignatius T. T. Lincoln from the United States to England on a forgery charge. Lincoln, a confessed German spy and former member of parliament, had escaped custody in New York after arrest and contested habeas corpus before appealing to the supreme court where oral arguments are set for Monday. The brief argues the British government seeks Lincoln for a political offense and notes the treaty prohibits trying or punishing political crimes or offenses by either nation, implying Britain would violate the treaty if Lincoln is charged politically.
